Ireland getting heated over bread
today my anthro professor said something kindof really beautiful:
“you all have a little bit of ‘I want to save the world’ in you, that’s why you’re here, in college. I want you to know that it’s okay if you only save one person, and it’s okay if that person is you”
take a deep breath
it’ll be over before you know it
pretend like you’re obama (it’ll help you talk slower)
stand up straight
in a class setting, people don’t typically pay attention anyways so it’s not like your classmates are watching your every move. they don’t care.
don’t lock your knees
bring up a note card with important topics or quotes
make eye contact if you can
or look at people’s hair. it’ll make it seem like you’re making eye contact, but it’ll be less awkward
don’t memorize your entire speech. instead, memorize a couple bullet points of topics you need to hit
project your voice as if you’re speaking to someone sitting in the back of the room
talk with your hands to help you feel more warm and welcoming
don’t put your hands in your pockets
walk around a bit, but let it come organically. don’t force it.
don’t bounce one leg the whole time, it’s distracting
spit out your gum
smile
don’t eat a big meal prior
if you have to present for a certain number of minutes, have a friend sit in the back of the room and hold up finger signs for how many minutes you’ve been up there
don’t wear loud jewelry
practice your presentation/speech to a friend or family member who is unfamiliar with the material. if they don’t understand your presentation or don’t follow, you need to be more detailed
stick to the built-in themes on power point. yes, colors are pretty, but some color combos can be hard to read, and you won’t know it until it’s up on a big screen/projector.
put pictures in your power point. they’re more entertaining to look at than a paragraph of text.
speak with formal language. stay away from curse words and slang.
remember that everyone in your class is going through the same stress.
if you absolutely cannot handle the idea of public speaking, talk to your teacher and see if it’s okay for you to do your presentation after class.
it’ll be okay.
you got this.

Do you remember anything fun that you’ve made as a kid? I was really proud of this “camera” I made out of a tea box. I filled it with hand-drawn “photographs” and was very disappointed when people and objects wouldn’t reenact them accurately enough at my request.

A huge mod made by my friend full of all sorts of things that are.. well.. cute! Including but not limited to:
Cherry blossoms, wisterias, and lemon trees
New, and pretty, materials and ores
More flowers!
and so much MORE…
I had the wonderful pleasure of being invited to make paintings, more than what’s included in the previews, for the mod alongside my other friend Kate @396 :) ! I had a lot of fun and I really hope you all enjoy it! CurseForge link is pending and is expected to be made public in a day or so, and I’ll upload all paintings I’ve done later! Thank you all!! 💖💖💖
There’s also quite a few bugs since it’s in Beta so any help (reporting, etc.) would be appreciated!

Whumpee sobbed, straining against their restraints in a desperate attempt to escape or do something other than stay stuck there.
“You monster! You killed them! How could you? I’ll- I’ll.”
Whumpee pulled harder and harder at their restraints until there was an audible popping sound. But before Whumpee could discern what it came from, Whumper’s open palm exploded pain across their face.
“Oh shut up, Whumpee. I’m not that cruel… yet.”
Whumpee froze as Caretaker was forced to the ground in front of them, trembling and coughing up very concerning amounts of blood.
Sobbing with relief this time, Whumpee strained just as hard as before towards Caretaker. However, Whumper grabbed their chin roughly
“From now on, every time you disobey, little Caretaker here will get one step closer to their death. So I suggest you start obeying. Resistance wouldn’t be a good look on Caretaker after all.
Whumpee gulped, ignoring the pleading eye contact of Caretaker telling Whumpee not to.
Whumpee nodded.
“Okay… I’ll obey. For Caretaker’s sake.”
Whumper’s smile grew to a too-wide grin.
“Perfect, my new pet.”
im gonna be real here - making the TKC movies and PJO show(s) live action is a huge mistake on Netflix/Disney’s part.
Like, we get it, you want this adaptation to be the next Harry Potter or Stranger Things or whatever, but after such horrible live-action PJO movies the fans are inherently inclined to hate live-action adaptations, plus it just has completely the wrong tones for the universe. There’s too much CGI they’re going to have to do for powers and creatures and everything that unless they’ve really got this and probably use a lot of practical effects, it’s going to look weird and probably outdated within a couple years.
And unless they have a really tight filming schedule, or they don’t use younger actors (which is probably going to piss off the fanbase, because the characters being young teens is kind of a major point of the series), then the actors are going to age too much between sections and it’s not going to be easy to find other actors to play the same characters. With animation if their voices change too much you can get voice doubles or just re-record stuff! It’d make everyone’s lives so much easier and also just in general the production would probably be cheaper and age better.
“But then it won’t appeal to as wide of an audience-” It’s a book series aimed at MIDDLE SCHOOLERS! You’re not going to get a wide adult audience unless they’re watching it for nostalgia! It’s just an inherent part of the series! Your audience is middle schoolers and high schoolers and yes they’ll watch animation how do you think Cartoon Network has survived this long. Plus if you try to “age it up” too much you’ll loose too much of that middle school audience that makes up the majority of your demographic here AND the older fans will be pissed off again.
@ Disney, @netflix @ Rick: Just. Animate it. Just animate it. Animate both.
