day eight: your workout routine

im a varisty swimmer and sets change every practice so i can’t exactly post the sets we do or expect people who don’t swim to do a varsity set as a workout

but i do have a dry workout routine bc coach likes to kill our muscles when it’s not season or the weekends or it’s like winter break or something

this is one set:

60 crunches

50 jumping jacks

40 sit ups

35 squats

30 pushups

20 lunges

20 candlesticks

20 leglifts

3 min plank

3 min wall sit

60 leg raises

we usually do at least two sets of this when we don’t have practice and if you don’t stretch before and after your arms and legs will fall off so do that first if you’re gonna try this

I'm just now getting into Contenders, what do I need to know? What's the tea?

Ok I was going to just have a jokey answer like “haha what is overwatch contenders, blizzard sure never heard of them” but legit my body had a visceral response that refuses to let me fuck this up so here is a too long info dump:  Overwatch Contenders is the official Tier 2 (T2) league for Blizzard’s overwatch esports. It is split into 6 regions: NA, SA, EU, CN, PAC, KR, AUS. (North America, South America, Europe, China, Pacific, Korea, Australia). Each hosts games based on their own time zone, have their own schedules etc etc.  Liquidpedia has all the most updated info on schedules , standings and players Supposedly it’s the next step down from Overwatch League in terms of the path to pro, it’s suppose to be the direct pipeline of talent to OWL but lets be real, other than Boston Uprising, OWL hardly ever scouts outside NA and KR contenders.  in 2020, the format of Contenders have changed drastically from previous years, its alot of stuff that im not going to go into about points and how teams can come up from Overwatch Trials to keep the path to pro dynamic but it also kinda fucked the broadcasting for most of the season so :/

I think if you want a very good intro to All The Regions, 2019′s Contenders Gauntlet tournament that had all the best teams from all regions is a good starting point. It was a REALLY good tournament from PAC region underdogs to Atlanta Academy and KR’s Element Mystic beating the living daylights out of each other. 

I personally watch alot of PAC and AUS and I highly enjoy them. I would suggest KR for Extremely High Quality Overwatch and CN for the Crazy Comp Aggressive Overwatch. According to @sayasurprise​ who religiously watches EU, it has the potential to be great if their players didnt get funnelled into NA at an alarming rate. NA is A Mess they literally had to do a 5 way tie breaker yesterday? WTF? I’m glad you’re looking into contenders ! any bit of support for T2 helps. Condenters is truly a dying scene, there are barely any prize money, and even then blizzard hardly ever cough up. T2 players and orgs are struggling with not enough resources and not enough coverage and just not enough anything - and the teams with no orgs are even doing even worse. ( I was going to talk about academy teams aka teams sponsored by an OWL org, but for 2020 almost all the OWL team got rid of their academy team :pensive: )

A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.

There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.

There is no plan.

Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.

Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.

We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.

This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.

We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.

People are dying.

More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.

My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.

Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.

But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.

She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.

So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.

One punch man workout

I have put together a One punch man workout based on Saitama’s training to become a Hero but I would like to stress that doing this 7 days a week is not recommended especially the 10k run, I would say 3-4 day would be beneficial and supplementing the run for swimming or cycling to save on joint problems.

Now let’s get to it I have made three workouts 2.0 and 3.0 have been modified to give you a more rounded workout and to push you a bit harder, so without further a due

carry on by rainbow rowell: it’s harry potter but gay and with extra scones and dumbledore wears tights

the raven cycle series by maggie steifvater (everyone has heard of this already so): delightfully weird with the strongest set of characters in anything i’ve read and lots of cars and bees

shades of magic series by ve schwab: whimsical fantasy and cross-dressing pirates and again, brilliant characters and just excitingness

monsters of verity duology by ve schwab: so so dark with savagely beautiful imagery and creepy nursery rhymes and almost horror writing in book 2

villains duology by ve schwab: moral ambiguity!!! edginess!!! subversion of the superhero genre!!! characters you both like and hate!!! gritty urban settings!!!

six of crows duology by leigh bardugo: more moral ambiguity and an absolutely stellar cast of six with an insanely well-crafted heist

the great library series by rachel caine: a book about books do i need to say more also christopher wolfe is my dad, the worldbuilding is insane and this is SO underrated

the girl at midnight series by melissa grey: the poetic justice makes me cry every time i think about it and honestly it’s just worth reading to see the character development dorian goes through

magisterium series by cassandra clare and holly black: harry potter but so much darker even though it’s mg not ya, and it has already made me cry my entire soul out so considering it’s written by 2 of the most popular authors this is criminally underrated honestly

strange the dreamer by laini taylor: i’m only halfway through this but the worldbuilding is amazing and the writing is absolutely gorgeous and it actually has a plot unlike some books this reminds me of

CONTEMPORARY

all for the game series by nora sakavic: so dark and so quick-paced and exciting with more amazing characters and more jaw-dropping plot twists and a mc who likes to destroy people on live tv

one of us is lying by karen m. mcmanus: criminally good ending that might be a direct comparison to a certain other popular tv series around rn with also a good cast of characters

troublemakers by catherine barter: really poignant narrative on protesting and things and it really helped me come to terms with the attack on my city in may

release by patrick ness: ok this crosses over into fantasy but it’s like 80% contemporary and it’s just a really good story on coming out into a homophobic environment and coming to terms with being loved and stuff

a list of cages by robin roe: just straight-up made me cry until i couldnt breathe honestly it has lots of narrative abt child abuse but if that’s not bad for you it’s really really good

HISTORICAL

the song of achilles by madeline miller: again, i straight up cried by the end of this one. the dramatic irony (cough cough what has hector ever done) is honestly the best dramatic irony in any book ive ever read ever

the gentleman’s guide to vice and virtue by mackenzi lee: just a really fun whimsical book with pirates and a cute relationship and good side characters and things like that

A Plea for Help

Hello there you beautiful, shining stars,

For those of you who are new, our names are C and N and we are the admins of this blog!

We are a disabled queer couple and have been together ten years as of the end of October. We’ve got three cats, a stubborn doggo, and two crested geckos!

C and I have been hit hard by the pandemic, like most people have been in the USA (where we come from). We’ve been doing everything we can to make the stimulus money we were given last, but as we get into winter, it’s run out. We’re not sure if there will be another one, and when it could be, and we’re concerned we won’t be able to make it much longer. On top of that, our apartment building is increasing it’s rent in December by another $50, when we can’t afford the current price.

C had been trying to find a local job, but C’s immune system is compromised and both of us were scared that he would catch it. And… he did. Now we’re both dealing with covid on top of other struggles and it’s just… it’s a lot.

Asking y’all for help is something we usually avoid doing, because the idea of monetizing this blog hurts our hearts. But we also know we need to be able to admit when we’re in need.

And… we’re in need of help, loves.
